Danny Avalos obtained his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. He went on to complete a gastroenterology clinical research fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Florida and his internal medicine residency at the University of Miami/JFK medical center. He then completed his gastroenterology fellowship at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. As a gastroenterology trainee, he was awarded the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation visiting fellow award at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital.
He continues to stay at the forefront of research having published over 40 peered reviewed articles in the areas of colon cancer prevention, hepatitis C eradication, inflammatory bowel diseases, and motility disorders. He has also contributed to book chapters in inflammatory bowel diseases and motility disorders. He serves as an assistant professor to the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. He is fluent in Spanish.
